Colonisations

Colonisations

Movement of groups, human is the issue here. Mass migration and colonisation in a world that has become narrow. The landscapes are overwhelming, huge and cold, they are the difficulty to overcome in these journeys. Along to the bigger paintings, I have done smaller formats. The heat traces: egg tempera on paper gone through a baking process in the kitchen oven. The herds remember the migrations of our own species. The vulcanos where inspired by the notion civilisation enders , they are small “memento mori”.

Cold Landscapes

Cold Landscapes

Since 2005, I am interested in the occupation of landscape, especially the mountain landscape. In particular, I deal with our relationship to landscape, may it be the bourgeois appropriation through alpine tourism or mountain sceneries represented in fantasy literature etc.
The Seilschaften (rope teams) are smaller works on baking paper, gone through a cooking process in the kitchen oven. They are heat traces left by people who follow their ambition in a space without topography.

Children and People

In these strips, I brought together various people as an arbitrary but significant community. I am not interested in portrait in itself. It is more a kind of experimental disposition. The basic colours suggest the situation in which each person reacts differently to the atmosphere, the emotional and mental space disposable.
The dimension of these paintings are a result of utmost reduction: the sole expression of the faces in a colour-space. I wanted to do without any other narrative element. Sometimes the colour-space is divided, hinting at separation (as in The Garden) or at a dynamic evolution (as in The Comet).

These paintings always consist of two pictures. This corresponds to my body-space sensation: our reality is no more that of a body in a space with an only, and individual perspective. My feeling is rather that we live contemporarily in various spaces, some three-dimensional, some virtual, some mental.
The body is alone on the picture, its space is not real. The “real” space is separated from it, on the other painting. The separation can be overcome through analogies: the ornaments created by the big forces like wind, water, light are also working inside myself, I feel similar flows, rhythms, waves in my body.
